LinkedIn invites per day: limits and warm-up

How many LinkedIn connection requests per day is reasonable? Why there is no single number, how a warm-up works, and the defaults CuppaLeads uses.

Short answer: there is no single number of LinkedIn invites per day that is right for everyone, and LinkedIn does not publish one. A careful default for an established account is around 20 a day and 80 a week, reached gradually. A new or quiet account should start with far fewer and build up over several weeks.

Why there is no magic number

An account that has been active for years, with hundreds of connections and regular activity, behaves differently from one created last month. Sudden changes are what stand out. So the question is less "what is the maximum?" and more "how fast do I ramp up, and how steady is the pattern?"

How a warm-up works

A warm-up is a slow, planned increase in activity. CuppaLeads does it automatically on every account:

  • Weeks 1 to 4: one invite a day until the account reaches 150 connections, then a steady build-up to 20 invites a day over four weeks.
  • After warm-up: the account runs at the limit you set, 20 a day by default.

You can watch the account's status ("Warming up", then "Healthy") and every status comes with a plain reason.

The defaults, and what you can change

LinkedIn invites per day: limits and warm-up
LimitDefault
Invites a day20
Messages a day40
Invites a week80
Gap between actions2 to 8 minutes, random, never under 2 minutes

You can lower any limit. Actions run only inside the working hours you choose, the daily total changes from day to day, and two invites are never sent in a row.

When you hit the weekly cap

At LinkedIn's weekly invite cap, invites rest for 7 days while messages continue. People who have already accepted still get their follow-ups, so live conversations aren't interrupted.

Keep pending invites under control

A large pile of unanswered invites is a signal worth avoiding. CuppaLeads withdraws stale invites after 20 days, eases new invites off when 300 are pending, and pauses them at 500.

More than one account?

Each connected account has its own limits, warm-up and working hours. Leads are de-duplicated across all of them, and one inbox holds every conversation.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

LinkedIn does not publish one number that fits every account, and it depends on the account's age and activity. A careful default is around 20 invites a day for an established account, built up gradually. CuppaLeads defaults to 20 invites a day and 80 a week, and you can lower either.

Several weeks. CuppaLeads starts at one invite a day until the account has 150 connections, then ramps up to 20 a day over 4 weeks.

Invites rest for 7 days while messages carry on, so conversations with people who already accepted don't stop.

No. Invites and messages have separate limits. CuppaLeads defaults to 40 messages a day.
