Short answer: LinkedIn and cold email work well side by side because they reach people in different places. The risk is contacting the same person twice without meaning to. Today in CuppaLeads the two channels run as separate campaigns in the same app, and each one stops when the person replies in that channel. So the habit that matters is deciding up front who gets which channel, and keeping a shared do-not-contact list.
Why use both channels?
LinkedIn is a good place for a short, personal first touch: an invite, then a message once someone accepts. Email can suit people you already have an address for. Using both gives you two ways to reach the same kind of buyer. We can't promise a particular lift in replies, and we won't quote one. Test it on your own list.
Can one sequence mix LinkedIn and email?
Not yet. Today they run as separate campaigns, side by side in the same app, and each stops on replies in its own channel. A reply on LinkedIn stops the LinkedIn sequence, and a reply by email stops the email sequence. The live pages describe each channel stopping in its own channel only, so plan on stopping the other one yourself.
To pause someone everywhere, add them to your suppression and do-not-contact lists.
Four simple ways to split the work
These are suggestions, not rules. Try one and measure it.
- Split by list. Leads with a verified email go to email. Leads with only a LinkedIn profile go to LinkedIn. Nobody is in both.
- Split by role or segment. Founders on LinkedIn, operations leads by email, for example. Use whatever split matches how your buyers behave.
- Stagger the channels. Run the LinkedIn campaign first. Send the email campaign to the people who did not respond, and remove anyone who replied or asked to be left alone.
- Run both on a small test batch. Keep the batch small and check the replies by hand so you can see how people react to getting two messages.
Habits that keep two channels tidy
- Use one list as the source of truth. CuppaLeads removes duplicates across campaigns and accounts, which helps when the same lead arrives from two sources.
- Add opt-outs to your suppression list straight away. Every cold email carries an unsubscribe link and opt-outs stay suppressed. If someone tells you on LinkedIn that they are not interested, add them yourself so they are not emailed.
- Keep the messages consistent but not identical. Someone who sees both should recognise the same sender and the same idea, without a copy-paste.
- Check your replies in one place. The Unibox holds every LinkedIn conversation from every connected account.
What each channel needs before you start
LinkedIn: connect an account and let the warm-up run. Defaults are 20 invites and 40 messages a day and 80 invites a week, with 2 to 8 minute gaps and a full stop on reply. See the guardrails and our post on invites per day and warm-up.
Cold email: connect your Google Workspace, then Cuppa verifies every address with your own verification key, checks SPF, DKIM and DMARC before launch and paces each mailbox. Follow-ups, up to four, stay in one thread and stop on a reply, auto-reply, bounce notice or unsubscribe. See SPF, DKIM and DMARC explained and the cold email page.
Try it
Start with one LinkedIn account and one small email campaign to a different slice of leads, and compare the replies after a couple of weeks. See the LinkedIn outreach page, the FAQ, or start a free trial (30 days).
